Sheranya felt her connection to nature early on. So she got selected as one of the new students of Dara, the founder, chief, and druid of the elven village Derry. She revered him for his knowledge and bond to nature. He led the village to live in complete harmony with nature, always giving before taking, and only taking what was necessary. Sheranya was a good student, maybe just a little bullheaded and brisk at times. Decades into her studies, it was even rumored that she might become the new chief one day, as people recognized her skill and connection to nature.
One day, news reached the village about a large locust swarm that already had destroyed fields and harvests of nearby towns. And it was heading in their general direction. Dara immediately went to work and went into deep meditation, communing with nature to redirect the swarm around their homestead and farming grounds. He asked Sheranya for help with it. Sheranya, having traveled some and gotten to know the regions around their town, and having made many friends (and a lover or three), knew that it would only destroy other people's harvests and chances of survival. She instead tried to convince him to stop the swarm altogether, killing it if need be. The swarm was part of nature, yes, but so were the people. And in her opinion the swarm was devouring nature itself, as well as threatening the delicate balance that they were working for. A long and heated discussion ensued where Dara blamed the surrounding towns to be the cause of the swarm, as they didn't respect nature enough. His was the only and true way, and they deserved nothing better.
Unconvinced, Sheranya stormed off straight towards the swarm. Summoning all her powers and asking for mother nature's help, she summoned forth a large firestorm, engulfing the swarm, and destroying it to the last insect. She saved the region from famine, but lost her mentor's trust and support.
Despite her family's and friends' protest, Dara not only banished her, out into the world she seemed to prefer over her own, but also took her druidic powers. Devastated, she said her goodbyes to her parents (Meira and Faelar) and brother (Tarathiel), packed her belongings and made her way. It was easy for her to find support in the nearby towns, since rumors of her deed spread fast and wide. Over time she found her connection with nature again and started to regain her abilities, spending half her time helping the villages with their crop, and the other half browsing the forests. She set her mind firmly on finding the true balance of nature, as well as the true nature of balance in the world. Thus she spend several years comfortably, until ...
